Description

One of the tombs belonged to a descendent of one of Prophet Mohammad’s cousins and another to a religious figure from Palmyra. Ten days ago, the terrorists destroyed a number of tombstones at a cemetery for Palmyra residents. Syrian officials say the ISIL has destroyed at least fifty mausoleums between 100 to 200 years old in areas under its control in northern and eastern Syria. The terrorist group captured Palmyra, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site, from government forces last month. At the weekend, the ISIL Takfiris laid land mines at the city's ancient site, renewing fears that they would demolish the ruins like what they did to other historical sites in Iraq.
