Description

More than 80 people have been killed, including many children, and hundreds wounded in two attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group claimed responsibility for one of the blasts, which targeted a busy shopping area in the predominantly Shia neigbourhood of Karada.

In the second attack, an improvised explosive device blew up near a popular market in the east of the capital.

Mowaffak Baqer al-Rubaie, a member of the Iraqi parliament and former national security adviser, joins us live from Baghdad via Skype.
