  • Monster Python Killed In Indonesia After It Attacks Man

In a not-so-classic tale of revenge, a giant python tried to take a chunk out of a man’s arm before he and some other villagers decided to kill the beastie and eat it. The slithery wannabe assassin, found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, was measured to be 7 meters (23 feet) long – no small fry, that’s for sure.

According to reports, the man in question was Robert Nababan, 37, who was driving around on his moped in Riau Province before coming across this snake, which happened to be blocking traffic. He stepped up to the plate, confronted the snake, and decided he had no choice but to physically force it off the road.

It was at this point that the python – probably the Python reticulatus species – decided he didn’t like this forced relocation. It lashed out, bit the man’s arm, and coiled itself around him so he couldn’t escape. “We wrestled for a while,” he told reporters from his hospital bed. This, of course, makes this story one of the strangest cases of road rage in history.

Ultimately, with the help of others, the python lost the fight. It was last seen in a backyard near the sight of the struggle, where it was consumed piece by piece by people with a penchant for vertebrate Parseltongue speakers.

Make no mistake – these snakes can be incredibly dangerous. Their bite is difficult to shake loose, and if the man was on his own at the time, it may have been him that ended up being served up for dinner.

  • You’re not allowed to fall in love with an American

You’re not allowed to fall in love with an American under Trump’s new visa rules

Donald Trump’s just made it even harder for those trying to enter the states. He’s given immigration officials new grounds to deny entry — asking all those who require a visa to follow-through on their stated plans for at least three months. Failure to do so will make it harder for them for renew their visa or change its status.

So if you’re in America for work, fall in love with a citizen and get married, it would be presumed that you have deliberately lied and will make living in the states difficult in the future.

Diane Rish, associate director of government relations at the American Immigration Lawyers Association, told The New York Times: ‘If someone comes to the U.S. as a tourist, falls in love and gets married within 90 days and then applies for a green card, this means the application would be denied. This is a significant policy change.’
In separate visa news, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has resumed processing all pending H-1B visa petitions.
It was temporarily suspended by the Trump administration to halt the rush on applications.

  • The world’s most welcoming countries – as voted by you

Whether it’s a friendly face at check in or a taxi driver who’s full of useful tips, nothing beats getting a warm welcome on your travels – and our interactions with local people have a huge impact on how we view countries as a whole. This month, we asked our Facebook and Twitter followers to share where they’ve found the most hospitable places around the world. Here’s what they said.

    10. Bolivia

This South American country has been voted among the world’s least friendly tourist destinations in the past – but we’ve always thought Bolivia has been a bit misunderstood. And it looks like our readers agree. As long as you make an effort to learn some key phrases in the local languages, you’ll find out exactly how hospitable Bolivians can be. From the otherworldly Salar de Uyuni to the vast, sapphire-blue Lake Titicaca, the country’s spectacular sights make it worth going the extra mile.

    9. Finland

Finns are famous for being uncommonly reserved, but that doesn’t mean they’re not a welcoming bunch – all you have to do is join them in the sauna to find out. Sweating it out together has become a national obsession, and you’ll no doubt come away from the experience with plenty of new friends. Once you’ve beaten each other with a bunch of leafy twigs and plunged feet first into a pool just a shade above freezing, you’ll at least have plenty to talk about.

    8. Myanmar

Cut off from the rest of the world for decades, Myanmar only recently began emerging from its period of isolation – and now is a fascinating time to go. Visit any one of the traditional teahouses to meet the friendly locals, who generally still view tourists as a novelty. In 2016, Myanmar was voted the world’s most generous country in the World Giving Index for the third year running. The index takes into account the kindness to strangers, so you can expect to be warmly received on your travels.

    7. Kenya

It’s likely that the spindly acacia trees, dusty plains and ochre-hued sunsets that come to mind when you think of Africa belong to Kenya. It hosts a breathtaking range of natural habitats, from the reefs and lagoons of the Indian Ocean to the fertile plains of the Maasai Mara. And its cultural heritage – with more than 40 ethnic groups – is just as rich. It’s common for locals here to speak three languages – their own, Swahili and English – so you’ll find it easy to start up a conversation.

    6. Indonesia

Home to everything from rumbling volcanoes to orangutan-filled rainforests, and surrounded by some of the best dive sites in the world, Indonesia’s 17,000 tropical islands are extraordinarily diverse. Meanwhile, the people that live here share around 300 ethnicities and many hundreds of languages between them. Locals are outgoing and accustomed to seeing new faces, so you shouldn’t be surprised if a complete stranger introduces themselves.

    5. Japan

Stepping off the plane and into Japan can feel a bit like strolling onto another planet. There’s everything from ramen vending machines to futuristic capsule hotels to get your head around – and the rules of etiquette can seem just as tricky to navigate. But there’s no need to worry, as Japan is regularly heralded as one of the most welcoming and hospitable countries in the world. That means you don’t have to fret if you’ve accidentally forgotten to switch to toilet slippers or committed a chopstick-related faux pas.

    4. Colombia

Colombia is widely regarded as one of South America’s rising stars, with the gradual decline of the drug cartels and improving security conditions finally granting access to its charming colonial cities, cloud forests and palm-fringed beaches. Locals here are famous for their hospitality, and you’ll no doubt get to experience this first-hand with a visit to the country’s underrated capital city or thriving Medellín.

    3. Uganda

Once dubbed “the pearl of Africa” by Winston Churchill, Uganda still has plenty to be proud of, including a healthy population of mountain gorillas, the source of the world’s longest river and the Mountains of the Moon, the continent’s tallest range. Many years of civil strife have largely kept it under the tourist radar, though travellers have begun flocking back in recent times with the fostering of stability. Now, you’ve voted it one of the most welcoming countries on Earth, so it’s the perfect time for a trip.

    2. India

In big Indian cities such as Delhi and Mumbai, you’re almost guaranteed to meet a new person every minute – and the welcome could initially seem a shade too warm. Everywhere you go, local people may introduce themselves, stare at you, or take photos, and you might even find yourself faced with awkward questions such as “Do you have a boyfriend?” or “How much money do you earn?” All of this is perfectly normal in India, and it’s simply a friendly way of showing interest in a new face.

    1. Ethiopia

Top of the list sits Ethiopia, a profoundly beautiful East African country with a history that stretches back many thousands of years. It was never colonised, so the tribal customs and hospitable traditions you can see here are largely just as they’ve always been. Take the Ethiopian coffee ceremony: the women of the household meticulously roast, grind and boil the aromatic beans, before presenting three consecutive cups of exceptionally fresh coffee to their guests. The process can last for hours, but it’s considered a real mark of friendship.

  • Remains of Byzantine basilica discovered at the bottom of Lake Iznik

The remains of an ancient basilica have been discovered about 20 meters from shore in Bursa’s Lake İznik, according to local archaeologists.

“We have found church remains. It is in a basilica plan and has three naves,” said Mustafa Şahin, an archaeology professor at Bursa Uludağ University.

The foundations of the church are currently lying in water that is about 1.5 to two meters deep.

“This church’s remains are similar to the Hagia Sophia in İznik. This is why we estimated that it was built in the fifth century A.D.,” said Şahin.

He said the structure was discovered while photographing the city from the air to make an inventory of historical and cultural artifacts.
After the discovery, the university informed the İznik Museum Directorate and the Culture and Tourism Ministry, asking that the archaeological site be protected, Şahin said.

  • 5 Of The Church Members Who Drank Annointed Rat Poison Are Dead

According to Popular UK Website Unilad This priest tried to prove his congregation were above death by feeding them rat poison and the results were disastrous…

Priest Light Monyeki from Soshanguve, South Africa, took it upon himself to prove his follower’s were superhuman and immortal, with a seriously dangerous stunt.

The priest declared to his congregation they should not fear death, as they will not die, before proceeding to pour bottles of water contaminated with rat poison into their mouths…

    He said:

We do not need to proclaim faith because we are believers. Death has no power over us.

Horrifyingly, many of his followers ran forward to take a fatal drink from the treacherous bottle.

The priest took a swig from the poison fluid before pouring it down the throats of his loyal congregation.

Disastrously, yet predictably, the members of his church started to complain of stomach pains and by the evening, five of them were tragically dead.

A further 13 more were taken to hospital for the ingestion of the lethal drink, but despite all of this Monyeki allegedly denied responsibility.

Surely he’s not referring to his poison drink as a ‘good thing,’ as I do not see how this could be possible in any way considering it killed five of his members…

The horrendous incident has sparked a police investigation, but no arrests have been made at present.

This is extremely dangerous and beyond stupid.

It’s sad to think his followers put so much faith and trust in him, which ultimately cost them their lives…

  • Meet the artist behind Beyonce's pregnancy photo - BBC

Beyonce's pregnancy announcement portrait is now the most liked Instagram post of all time. But who is the artist behind the image? The photo of Beyonce wearing a veil and cradling her stomach has now been liked over eight million times.

This might not be a big deal for the 35-year-old singer. But it's a huge accomplishment for Awol Erizku, the artist who took the famous photo - and the entire series of pregnancy photos that Beyonce has since uploaded to her website.

Here are five things you should know about him.

    Who is he?

Born in Ethiopia, 28-year-old Awol grew up in the South Bronx area of New York. In 2014, he graduated from Yale University with a masters in fine art and his work often fuses photography, video installations and sculpture. And while he's now responsible for the most liked picture on Instagram, Awol has a humble following on his own social media accounts.

He has a strange way of using social media to share his work

If you've tried to find more of his work on Instagram after seeing his portrait of Beyonce, you probably know already that his page is closed for business. The 28-year-old treats his Instagram account like an art gallery, where he hosts Instagram-only art shows. For example, his account has detail about "gallery" opening hours: timings for when his feed is opened up for public viewing.

He combines his art with music

With each of his exhibitions, Awol has released what he calls a conceptual mixtape. Think of this as a kind of soundtrack to the artist's latest creations. One of Awol's most played mixes was released alongside a film and photo project called Serendipity, which was a response to the Black Lives Matter movement in America.

  • RUSSIAN PRESIDENT PUTIN’S COMMENTS ON ALLAH UPSETS MUSLIMS

Ever since Muslim-controlled Turkey shot down a Russian jet last month, Putin has been upping his rhetoric against the religion. After announcing his decision on imposing some stricter sanctions on Turkey, he said something that drew a backlash from some Muslims. Putin said during a press conference that he was not interested in “saber-rattling” with Turkey. He promised stronger sanctions on the country.

After Putin’s statements the Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak announced that Russia would be ending the talks on the Ankara Turkish gas steam pipeline, a move designed, he said, “to emphasize the strength of Kremlin anger.”

Putin then made some chiding remarks to Turkey’s Muslim-controlled government during a press conference recently. He said:

“We are not planning to engage in military saber-rattling (with Turkey),” Putin declared. “But if anyone thinks that having committed this awful war crime, the murder of our people, that they are going to get away with some measures concerning their tomatoes or some limits on construction and other sectors, they are sorely mistaken.”

“All in all, dear colleagues, I do not understand why they did this,” Putin said. “Perhaps only Allah knows.”

“It appears that Allah decided to punish the ruling clique of Turkey by depriving them of wisdom and judgment,” Putin joked.

That didn’t go down well with a lot of Muslims who thought he was very disrespectful.

  • Footballer who survived Colombian plane tragedy was reading Bible

It was reported that the footballer who survived was reading Bible passage about being safe 'in the shadow of your wings' before crash it emerges as his book is found

The bible, belonging to Chapecoense centre back Helio Neto, was found at the scene of the crash and has been handed to the footballer's wife.

His wife said Neto, who is still fighting for his life in hospital, is deeply religious and takes the religious scripture with him everywhere.

A bookmark had been inserted next to Psalm 63, which talks about being safe in the shadow of God's wings and about thinking of God in bed.

In detail it says: 'On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night; Because you have been my help; Then I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.

'My soul follows you closely; Your right hand upholds me.'

Video footage shows journalist Roberto Cabrini at the scene of the wreckage and noticing the book, with a note inside saying it belongs to the defender, who is in a critical condition.

The reporter can be seen visibly shaking as he realises what it is.

He reads with a shaky voice the name that is printed on the inside of the cover, as behind him we can see the wreckage of the crash.

Mangled parts of the plane can be seen in the background and Cabrini is later seen taking the bible to the wife of Neto, who smiles as she realises what she is being given.

Neto's condition has been described as 'delicate' by doctors who said they regularly have to 'stabilise' him as he has a 'serious pulmonary infection.'

  • South Africa’s ‘Prophet of Doom’ condemned

In a Facebook post, self-proclaimed prophet Lethebo Rabalago claims a pesticide called Doom can heal people.

The company that produces Doom warned of the risks of spraying the substance, while a government commission urged anyone affected to lodge complaints.

But the pastor has defended his actions, telling the BBC he is using unconventional methods to heal people.

The country has seen a wave of practices where church members have been subjected to unorthodox rituals to receive healing.

In photos circulating on Facebook and Twitter, Mr Rabalago, who runs the Mount Zion General Assembly in the Limpopo province, is seen spraying the insecticide directly into the eyes and various body parts of his congregants.

He told the BBC’s Nomsa Maseko in Johannesburg that he had sprayed the face of one woman because she had an eye infection and claimed the woman was “just fine because she believed in the power of God”.

He also claims the spray can heal cancer and HIV.

“Doom is just a name, but when you speak to it to become a healing product, it does. People get healed and delivered through doom,” a post on the church’s Facebook account reads.

Testimonies of people who have supposedly been healed by Doom have also been posted on the Facebook page.

In another interview, , the pastor is heard saying: “The truth is, Doom can heal people in the right way.”

  • US election 2016 result: Historic win for Somali-American woman

A Somali-born former refugee has made history by becoming the first Somali legislator in the United States.

Ilhan Omar, 34, who wears the hijab, was elected to serve in Minnesota's state house of representatives.

The Muslim Somali-American woman becomes the highest-ranking Somali elected to office in the US.

Her election comes just days after US President-elect Donald Trump accused Somali immigrants in Minnesota of "spreading their extremist views".

Minnesota has the nation's largest Somali community - about 50,000 according to the US census.

Celebrating her victory, Ms Omar said she would be the "voice for the marginalised" in the state parliament.

"I think I bring the voice of young people. I think I bring the voice of women in the East African community. I bring the voice of Muslims. I bring the voice of young mothers looking for opportunities," Minnesota Public Radio quoted her as saying.

Ms Omar escaped from Somalia with her family at the start of the civil war when she was eight years old.

They lived in a Kenyan refugee camp for four years, before moving to the US and settling in a Somali-American neighbourhood in Minnesota.

  • Egypt Confirms It Won’t Involve in Ethiopia’s Affairs

Egypt’s foreign ministry confirmed on Sunday media reports that Egypt's ambassador to Addis Ababa met with Ethiopia's minister of foreign affairs on Wednesday to answer questions related to the authenticity of a video reportedly showing unidentified Egyptians hailing the separatist Oromo Liberation Front during a recent public gathering of alleged Oromo supporters in Cairo.

"Egypt does not interfere in any country’s domestic affairs," Egypt’s ambassador to Ethiopia Abu Bakr Hefny told the East African country's state minister for foreign affairs Taye Atske-Selassie, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs.

Hefny said that the video "does not reflect the reality at all," describing it as an attempt by third parties to sow discord between Egypt and Ethiopia, especially considering that bilateral relations have been improving in recent months, the statement read.

Ethiopia declared a state of emergency on Sunday following a week of violent anti-government protests by Oromo supporters, which led to deaths and property damage across the country.

Egypt’s foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid added today that the discussions in the Wednesday meeting reflected a “mutual understanding of the importance of securing the positive momentum in bilateral relations while not giving a chance for any subversion between the two countries.”

The meeting in Addis Ababa last week came hours after the Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that Egypt was supporting the Oromo Liberation Front, which has been leading protests against the Addis Ababa government.

Shortly after the Turkish agency's report was published on Wednesday, Egypt denied in an official statement that it was backing the opposition group, denouncing "attempts by some malicious parties to sow discord between Egypt and Ethiopia.”

Egypt and Ethiopia had witnessed tensions in recent years over the construction of Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam mega project, with Cairo expressing fears that the dam would negatively affect its Nile water share. Addis Ababa has maintained that the dam project, which Ethiopia needs to generate electricity, would not harm downstream countries.

However, relations improved after Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan signed in September the final contracts for the long-awaited technical studies on the potential impact of the dam on downstream countries.

Mourinho to launch 2017 Man Utd pursuit of Griezmann

Manchester United are set to go after Antoine Griezmann in a big way next year.

The Bleacher Report suggests that Jose Mourinho is already making plans for 2017 and they include bringing in Griezmann from Atletico Madrid on a big-money deal. The French forward is being eyed up as a potential long-term replacement for current Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney.

Mourinho has already injected plenty of quality into his United squad by signing Paul PogbaZlatan IbrahimovicEric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan over the summer and is eager to add further world-class players to his Old Trafford revolution. Griezmann, 25, was linked with a move to Chelsea during the recent transfer window but ended up signing a new contract with Atletico where he has been since 2014.

ADL confirms Napoli rejected Koulibaly bid from Chelsea

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed he turned down a big-money offer from Chelsea for Kalidou Koulibaly.

Reports suggested that the Blues seriously went after the Senegalese centre-back late in the transfer window but opted to bring David Luiz back from PSG after seeing their pursuit rebuffed by the Naples outfit. De Laurentiis told Radio Kiss Kiss: "It's just not a rumour that Chelsea offered more than 50 million for [Koulibaly], it's true we rejected it."

It is assumed that De Laurentiis was speaking in Euros when mentioning the bid he rejected, which means Chelsea offered over £43m for the 25-year-old.

Luke Shaw has revealed that he opted to join Manchester United over Chelsea two years ago.

The 21-year-old left-back departed Southampton to sign with United in a £27million deal in June 2014 but was also a key target for Chelsea.

Current Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho was manager at Stamford Bridge at the time but Shaw simply felt his chances at Old Trafford would be greater than opportunities in West London under the Portuguese. "Patrice [Evra] was leaving and Jose, at that time, had a solid back four," he said when asked of his decision.

China Everbright in talks about Liverpool stake (FSG value Reds at £1bn)

Hong Kong-based China Everbright Group remain keen on Liverpool, it has been revealed.

The Sun says Fenway Sports Group – who bought the Reds for £300m in October 2010 are not considering an outright sale but may offer a minority stake.

Their advisers, Allen & Co, have compared the Anfield outfit to the likes of Manchester United and City, valuing the club at £1 billion.

And Bloomberg claim an inside source believes the investment group are willing to come closer to that valuation because of the new broadcasting deal and seats being added to Anfield.

This is despite a period of relative struggled at Liverpool, who have not won the Premier League since 1990.

Man City ace Aguero fighting to make Man Utd derby clash

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is desperate to make next week's derby against Manchester United.

The Daily Star says Aguero was charged on Tuesday for allegedly elbowing West Ham's Winston Reid on Sunday.

Aguero was given until 6pm yesterday to respond but that was extended because City officials were working on the exits of Samir NasriJoe HartEliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony.

An independent panel will hear Aguero's defence tomorrow.

They will use video and written evidence but the 28-year-old will not appear.

If found guilty he faces a three-match ban that would rule him out of the derby clash on September 10.

  • All the Premier League's done deals on hectic deadline day as transfer window closes

Premier League clubs splashed out a record £1billion as the transfer window closed at 11pm on Wednesday night.

Top-flight sides spent big throughout the summer with many smashing their transfer records.

Deadline day was as frantic as ever as David Luiz completed a shock return to Chelsea, who re-signed the man they sold to PSG for £50 for a paltry by comparison £23m.

Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, desperate for regular first team opportunities after being snubbed for the England squad, sensationally joined Bournemouth on loan for the season.

The big saga of the day saw Moussa Sissoko join Tottenham for £30m - despite appearing to be on his way to Everton - after Newcastle played hardball in negotiations.

A fee was agreed with the Toffees, but the deal was anything but done and before they knew it Sissoko was in London celebrating a new five-year deal.

Hal Robson-Kanu is with a club now too, having been given leave from Wales duty to speak with West Brom before an announcement was made after 11pm.

Chelsea's Juan Cuadrado was handed a lifeline by Juventus with a three-year loan deal, Leicester picked up Islam Slimani from, Sporting Lisbon for £29.7m and Wilfried Bony is hoped to become the source of goals for Stoke after being loaned by Manchester City.

Here is the list, in full, of every player to move in and out of Premier League clubs on deadline day.

The Brazilian returned to Stamford Bridge in a reported £34m deal, just two years after leaving for PSG.

The Frenchman was at the centre of a deadline day tussle between Spurs and Everton before moving to White Hart Lane

Dropped for Willy Cabellero who Pep Guardiola favoured, Hart completed a season-long loan deal in Italy following the arrival of Claudio Bravo.

Wilfried Bony - Manchester City to Stoke (loan)

Failing to make a significant impact at the Etihad, the former Swansea man will look to recapture his best form on loan at Stoke after the Potters paid £2m for his services.

The Algerian is Riyad Mahrez's teammate at international level. He scored 27 goals in the Portuguese top flight last term.

Balotelli and Liverpool's tumultuous relationship is over. He'll ply his trade in Ligue 1 this season after the Reds came to an agreement with the striker to terminate his contract.

After being criticised by Guardiola for his fitness in pre-season, Nasri turned down a loan move to Besiktas, opting for a move to Spain.

City spent big on the French defender two years ago but he's been a massive disappointment at the Etihad. Can he work his way back into Pep's plans with a good spell in Spain?

After missing out on a number of their top targets, Everton finally made a signing at the 11th hour as they brought in the Ecuadorian striker.

Man Utd boss Mourinho furious with Schweinsteiger after he rejected...

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is furious with Bastian Schweinsteiger after he turned down a move to Sporting CP.

The Daily Star says United even agreed to pay part of the German midfielder's £190,000-a-week wages in Portugal. But the 32-year-old World Cup winner dug in his heels and told Mourinho he would not go.

The angry United boss has vowed not to play the midfielder again despite Schweinsteiger claiming he is still determined to forced his way back into the picture. Mourinho has already axed him from his first-team squad and suggested he would rather pick hopefuls out of the youth team to play in midfield.

Agent eyes future Arsenal move for Almiron

Miguel Almiron would love to play for Arsenal and may get the chance to do so in the future, according to his agent.

The Paraguayan midfielder has been linked with the Gunners this week with reports suggesting that his club, Argentine outfit Lanus, were in talks with the North Londoners.

While Almiron's agent, Daniel Campos, has confirmed interest from Arsenal, he suggests that the 22-year-old is unlikely to make the move to the Premier League before Wednesday night's transfer deadline. "Actually there was an approach, but it didn't go any further," he told Sport Witness.

"I see it more for the future. "No doubt he'd be delighted to play in the Premier League and for Arsenal." Regarding a possible transfer fee for Almiron, Campos added: "That's up to Lanus. But around €10 million."

Chelsea locked in Real Madrid talks to take James on-loan

Chelsea are pushing to prise James Rodriguez away from Real Madrid today.

Marca says Chelsea will make a last minute attempt to lure Colombian Rodriguez to Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte would prefer a loan deal for Rodriguez but Real Madrid are holding out for a permanent move after spending around £63million on him following his impressive showing at the 2014 World Cup.

But Zidane has made it clear that he will struggle to force his way into the Madrid side this season by saying that “he could prove a problem." Rodriguez, 25, has made just two substitute appearances this season and Conte believes he could play a big part in Chelsea's title hunt.

The Blues aren't willing to meet Madrid's asking price of a whopping £65m and any hopes of a move would rely on a loan deal.

Moyes could use Januzaj to lure Pogba to Sunderland

Sunderland manager David Moyes is eyeing a late transfer swoop for Florentin Pogba.

Reports suggest that the Black Cats are showing considerable interest in the Saint-Etienne centre-back, who is the older brother of Manchester United's work record signing Paul Pogba.

Moyes has been after a new central defender after it became apparent that Everton were keen on Lamine Kone and it appears as though Pogba, 26, is now on his wish-list. The Guinea international, who has been with Saint-Etienne since 2012, would reportedly cost Sunderland around £6.5million.

It is understood that Black Cats winger Adnan Januzaj, who is on loan from United, may have a role to play in luring Pogba to the Stadium of Light as he has a close relationship with the defender's more famed brother. Hull City are also believed to be showing interest in Pogba.

Tottenham turn down Wolfsburg offer for Son Heung-min

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned down an offer from Wolfsburg for Son Heung-min.

The Sun reports that Spurs rejected the German club's bid of £24million as they plan on retaining his services at White Hart Lane.

The 24-year-old forward only joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen for £22m last summer and was being heavily linked with a return to the Bundesliga but is set to stay put in North London.

Son, who is away on national team duty with South Korea, said: "It is not a good sign these transfer rumours are coming out – although it is meaningful those in Germany acknowledge me."

Valencia edge ahead of Porto for Man City defender Mangala
Eliaquim Mangala will join Valencia on a season-long loan deal on Wednesday.

France Football reports that the Manchester City defender is set to move to Spain after Los Che won the race to his services.

Portuguese giants Porto were showing significant interest in Mangala but it is understood that Valencia made a better loan offer for the Frenchman.

However, the Manchester Evening News have suggested that Mangala, 25, will return to Porto on a two-year deal loan.

Either way, Mangala is out of favour at City under Pep Guardiola following the big-money arrival of John Stones and Aleksandar Kolarov's successful shift to centre-back when required, and will leave the Etihad Stadium before the transfer deadline.

  • Burkina Faso bans big buttocks beauty contest

Burkina Faso bans big buttocks beauty contest (Online photo)

The government of Burkina Faso has banned an annual beauty contest for women with the biggest buttocks, saying such events are sexist.

Adverts for this weekend’s third edition of ‘Miss Bim-Bim’, carrying an image of two fully clothed women with exaggeratedly large behinds, provoked an outcry on social media.

“Our role is to do everything to avoid damaging the image of women,” said Minister Laure Zongo in a statement, adding that social media criticism had persuaded her to act.

The male organizer of the event, Hamado Doambahe, said it aimed to promote a more positive body image for African women and encourage fashion designers to use African costumes.

Contests like Miss Bim-Bim have been held in other West African countries.

Women’s rights groups have mixed views about the tendency in many African cultures to celebrate women with larger bodies than are typically admired elsewhere.

While they welcome the shift away from the unnaturally thin female shapes promoted by the global fashion industry, they deplore the emphasis on men judging women’s body shapes.

The head of Burkina Faso’s High Council for Communications, Nathalie Some, called in a statement for people in advertising, the media and the arts to protect the rights of women and girls.

  • President Mugabe Orders For The Arrest Of Zimbabwean Olympic Team For Not Winning Any Medal at Rio 2016

    142664-president-robert-mugabe

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe has instructed the Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Police Republic, Augustine Chihuri to arrest and detain the whole Zimbabwean Olympic Team members immediately the arrive at the Harare International Airport on Tuesday, August 23.

Zimbabwe which is one of the countries in the Olympics without a medal presented a team of 31 athletes. The closest any of the athletes came to win a contest was at the 8th position.

Mr. Mugabe who is incensed with the team’s performance told the Police Chief to arrest all the team members and detain them.

“We have wasted the country’s money on these rats we call athletes. If you are not ready to sacrifice and win even copper or brass medals (referring the 4th and 5th positions) as our neighbors Botswana did, then why do you go to waste our money” he said.

If we needed people to just go to Brazil to sing our national anthem and hoist our flag, we would have sent some of the beautiful girls and handsome guys from University of Zimbabwe to represent us.

He added that, the money invested in the team to represent the country could have been used to provide amenities and build schools.

“This situation is like an impotent man who is married to 5 women, what is the essence? I will make sure we share the cost across board for all of them to pay back to government chest even if it take 10 years recoup, now it turns out to be a soft loan we have given them to go and visit Brazil as tourist, they are useless ‘he concluded.
